Harry Zaverdas was born & raised in NYC by a Greek family with strong values. Discipline, pride and hard work was reinforced from an early age, however art was discouraged. Harry's first paying job began during the summer months at the mere age of 10, Harry's father took him into NYC across from his job with AT&T on 195 Broadway , where he would shine shoes from 9am-5pm.

Harry displayed a talent for art all throughout his years in school, yet Harry's passion for the art of photography began to surface as a teenager watching his older brother John process black & white film in the basement of their home in Corona, NY. Photography began taking shape naturally as an art without him consciously being aware. He then found himself taking photography more serious in college as he studied graphic design at Cooper Union.

The year Harry graduated Cooper Union, he became the recipient of a prestigious International Design Competition where 900 entrants from 20 different countries participated. Harry created an extremely powerful 3 dimensional piece, which represented the fate of the earth if humans continued to develop nuclear weapons.

After graduating Cooper Union he was immediately hired by an advertising & design agency on Madison Avenue in NYC. After one year, Harry began freelancing.

Design is more than just a survival too for Harry, he is constantly striving to use design to serve a positive purpose. His compassionate humanitarianism, has even led him to create 911trees.com a tree planting memorial dedicated to all the victims of 911.

Today photography for Harry has become an extension of his existence. It would be a rare moment to catch him without a camera in his possession. Every shot is an expression of his subconscious. When Harry releases the shutter, he captures the moment with deep emotion unlike any photographer I have ever seen. (B. Selberg)
