ART... The Safe Haven of EXPRESSION is being Threatened!

I Constantine Ladikos just wanted to use this space to address a certain issue I have witnessed unfold. Art for me has always been a safe haven, a place where i could bring my feelings and work them out on the canvas without hurting or harming anyone else. Art has been the most important outlet of expression throughout my life. (when i mean art, i mean painting, writing, and music).

I currently work with autistic children, helping them to express their own feelings. No matter how dark or wrong they may seem to the average person. Art was and will always be a safe haven for the psyche of humans. What has really disturbed me in recent times, is that i have witnessed a group of people try to take away this safe haven of expression. Mind you, a person that tries to take away the safety and solace of art is a threat to humanity. These kinds of people have fallen out of touch with their psyche and the psyche of the collective, and will slowly ruin humanity one human at a time, by taking away peoples ability to feel. These people are sad and pitiful for they seek to destroy that which they dont understand. Even though they act out of ignorance it is important we do not persecute them back, instead it is important we tolerate them and lead by example. As artists it is important we stand behind one another and protect that special place where someone is allowed to feel, deal and heal. As human beings, it is important we cultivate tolerance for eachother, even if we dont like what we see or hear. I truly feel sorry for the individuals who wish to take away the healing power of art, because they take personal offense. This is sad, immature, and dissapointing. The consequences of such a pitiful life will result in misery. I pray for all people and ask for nothing but tolerance, love, and compassion. Together we can make it work, one person at a time. Keep art safe! Don't let them take it away, it is all we have. My heart goes out to all those in the struggle. God bless America.
